A man in a wheelchair on an SBS bus was hit by a falling luggage bag, which was placed beside him.

After a three-hour stand-off, the bus had to take 30-year-old passenger, Mr Raaj Kumar, to hospital. He refused to get into an ambulance, saying that it was not wheelchair-enabled.

The incident happened at 2.30pm on Tuesday on board bus service 36, which was travelling from Changi Airport to Orchard Road. The eight other passengers were transferred onto another bus to continue on their journey.

The New Paper understands that the man refused treatment at Changi General Hospital unless it was confirmed the bus company would be responsible for his medical bills. He eventually left the A&E without registering.

At about 2.40pm yesterday, the man created another scene at Toa Payoh Bus Interchange, wanting an explanation from SBS Transit regarding his “injury”.
