Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said that the current inter-monsoon season from last month to this month is a typically warm period and temperatures are expected to remain high over the next few months.

May and June are usually the hottest months of the year but Singaporeans will have to wait until late September to enjoy cooler temperatures.

The MSS said that temperatures for the past week have reached as high as 33.6 deg C, recorded on Sunday, and temperatures are expected to range between 31 and 33 deg C this weekend.

The highest temperature this year was 35.2 deg C, recorded on Jan 7.

But the effects of the sun have brought a little sunshine to retail stores which sell electric fans and air-conditioning units.

Harvey Norman and Courts have both reported an increase in sales of fans and air-conditioning units.
