Train service on the North-South Line was delayed for eight minutes on Tuesday evening after the cover of a train component fell off onto the tracks.
But the incident, at about 6.30pm, did not pose any safety risk to commuters 'at any point in time', said rail operator SMRT on Tuesday night.
It happened to a north-bound train soon after it pulled out of Ang Mo Kio station. An electrical fault in a train component led to the cover falling off, creating a loud noise, an SMRT statement said.
The SMRT is investigating the incident, said its spokesman.
