Four face death penalty over seized drugs

Nearly half a million dollars worth of drugs were seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a 24-hour long operation that began on Wednesday.

Four drug traffickers were arrested with about 2.8 kg of heroin with a street value of more than S$419,000.

CNB had been tracking the 35-year suspected drug trafficker who was known to constantly change the location of his drug store to avoid detection.

On Aug 3, the suspected drug trafficker was spotted leaving a unit, believed to be the drug store, at Choa Chu Kang Crescent and boarding a taxi.

He returned to the same unit later that night and left again when CNB officers pounced on him.

Back at the unit, they recovered a metal container containing about 2.2kg of heroin from a walk-in-wardrobe.

His alleged client and two alleged accomplices - a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman - were later arrested.

All four will be investigated for drug trafficking and, if convicted, they face the death penalty.
