The Elections Department said today at a media briefing that this is fewer than the 2.32 million eligible voters for the May 2011 General Election.
That is because of the 140,000 voters who did not cast their votes in May and just over half who have had their names restored on the Register of Electors.
The Elections Department emphasised that the Presidential Election is different from the General Election as there is no constituency-based voting and the entire nation is involved.
Nomination Day has been set for August 17. If there is a contest, some 780 polling stations will be set up nationwide. There will also be 162 counting centres, with the principal counting centre at the Elections Department.
