Qantas plane turns back after lightning strike

SYDNEY - A QANTAS flight from Auckland to Melbourne was forced to turn back after a suspected lightning strike on Wednesday, but landed safely with no damage or injuries to passengers.

The airline said the captain of the Boeing 737-800 made the decision in the interests of safely, even though the aircraft is built to withstand such an impact.
