SINGAPORE - When the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link between Singapore and Iskandar Malaysia gets underway by 2018, commuters would need to clear immigration only once for each way of travel.
Following a recent meeting - its seventh to date - the Singapore-Malaysia Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia announced yesterday the two countries have agreed to set up co-located Customs, Immigration and Quarantine facilities.
A new framework for cross-border sharing of information on lost and stolen passports has also been put in place to enhance border security. The committee will meet again in the first quarter of next year to review the progress of its working groups.
