Yang Yin - the former tour guide who first made headlines for his role in the battle for the estate of widow Chung Khin Chun - on Thursday (Dec 4) was slapped with three new charges for immigration offences.

Yang, 40, was already facing 331 charges related to falsifying accounts of his company, Young Music & Dance Studio Pte Ltd.

On Thursday, he was charged with two counts of giving false statements to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority in 2010 and 2011 when he attempted to apply for Permanent Resident status.

The charges were for his declarations that he drew a S$7,000 monthly salary as managing director of his company; that his duties were to "oversee operations, give training and instructor (sic) for students"; and that the company's turnover 2009 and 2010, respectively, were S$75,080 and S$135,952 - "statements you knew to be false", asserted an ICA investigation officer.

The third charge was for making a statement that he was drawing a salary of S$6,000 a month in his application for a Long Term Visit Pass for his wife, Ms Weng Yandan. This took place in August last year.

For these charges, he faces a fine not exceeding S$4,000, a jail sentence of up to a year, or both.
