Singaporean Chan Lay Hoon was named president of Valencia FC this week.

Ms Chan was named the first female president of the La Liga team at a shareholders' meeting.

The 95-year-old club was recently bought by Singapore businessman Peter Lim.

Ms Chan's presidential appointment was just one of several changes at the top for Valencia, which named a new Board of Directors consisting of seven Asians and two Spaniards.

Los Che finished eighth in La Liga last season and failed to qualify for a spot in either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa League.

They currently sit fifth in the table on 24 points, nine behind leaders Real Madrid.
