Man arrested for murder in Ang Mo Kio

A woman was found dead in a ninth-floor flat at Block 406, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 on Thursday (Nov 20).

Police said the 30-year-old woman was found lying motionless in the flat.

The woman, believed to be a foreigner, was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

A 40-year-old Singaporean man has been arrested for murder.

According to a resident staying on the same floor, the man is a local, in his 40s and has tattoo on his neck. She added that prior to the incident, different people have been seen coming in and out of the flat.

Another neighbour living on the eighth floor told Channel NewsAsia she heard quarreling and banging sounds on Thursday morning between 7.30am and 9.30am.

Ms Ina Slamat said she heard 'a lot of crying' and the sound of people 'throwing a lot of things'.

"In the last six months there was fighting also, but it was in the middle of night, like 3.30am to 4am," she added.

The body of the victim was taken away on Thursday evening. Police had also cordoned off an area at the void deck which includes the switch room.
