New signboards displaying colour-coded real-time traffic information have been installed on the Central Expressway (CTE) and East Coast Parkway (ECP), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said.

The new Expressway Motoring Advisory System (EMAS) signboards, located at entry points to the two expressways, will display information in both text and graphical messages, the LTA said on Wednesday (Oct 29). The signboards will start operation on Sunday.

The signboards will be "progressively implemented" along the other expressways, and are expected to be ready by 2017, LTA said.

Another 70 new electronic signboards have also been installed along four major arterial roads, including Upper Jurong Road to Commonwealth Avenue, Geylang Road to Upper Changi Road East and Mountbatten Road to Xilin Avenue. The new signboards will allow better information dissemination and consequently better traffic flow islandwide, LTA said.
