A mirror, a comb, a cellphone and even your jacket – these everyday items found in your bag can help you overcome a much stronger person, and possibly save your life.

Self defence instructor, Qin Yunquan from Kapap Academy says that strength and size does not matter, demonstrating how even a small-sized girl can overcome an attack from behind - so long as she knows where to place her weight.

Qin raids the bags of average women on the street, to find out what can be used to save themselves in a dangerous situation.

If you have a jacket, it can be used as a tool against an attack.
If a person has a knife, twist your jacket and wrap it around the attacker's
wrist to restrict his movement and point the knife away from you.
Or fling it over the attacker's face to distract him,
after which you can then hit the attacker in the face.
A mirror is another good weapon to use.
You can step on it to break the glass and use one of the pieces as a weapon..
Any hard object can be a weapon, if used correctly.
Grip the water bottle on top and hit the attacker in the face.
Curl the book so that it will be stiff at the edges.
Jab it in the attacker's throat or face.
Hit the attacker in a whip-like motion. The aim is not to hit hard, but fast.
You can stuff your fist into your shoes and use it to
protect yourself against an armed attacker, or to punch his face.
Hold the key between your knuckes, pointy edge outwards.
Jab the face or throat. You can also use it to scratch the face of your attacker.
Use the hard edge of your wallet to jab the face or throat of the attacker.
A comb with a pointed end is a very good weapon.
Hold it in this position (above) and jab the eyes or face.
Grip your phone tightly at the top and jab it at the
attacker's throat or solar plexus (centre of the chest).
Even the sharp edges of your mobile phone charger can
be used to fend off an attacker, if used in the right way.
A card that is stiff and rigid can also be used as a weapon to jab an attacker.
If you have a pen, hold it in this position shown above,
thumb over cap, and jab the attacker with it.
If you have coins, fling it at the attacker's face to distract him.
Even a rolled up poster can be used as a weapon.
Hold it like a sword and jab the attacker using the hard edge.
When all else fails, your bag can also be a weapon.
If you have a bag like this, spin it around to seal up the opening and swing
it at the attacker. But maintain control over the bag and don't swing it wildly.
A backpack can also protect against an armed attacker.
Hold it diagonally and shield against attacks.
