Singapore's first women-only race Shape Run 2012 gets an update with a new category and the introduction of male Shape pacers.

About 8,600 women runners are set to race through Nicoll Highway this Sunday in three categories: the usual 5km and 10km challenges, and the newly-introduced non-competitive 2.4km category.

Organised by Shape Singapore, a publication of SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, the competitive races will see the addition of 30 male pacers to help the female runners achieve their goal timings.

Winners of the 10km and 5km categories will each get $1,000 and $500 cash respectively, along with health and beauty products and services, such as a treadmill, an elliptical cross trainer and cameras. The second to 10th place finishers of both events will also be awarded prizes.

All participants will also get a medal and race certificate with their personal timing after the run.
