Unlike public housing estates, where maintenance issues are managed by the Town Councils, private estates are self-managed.

Those living in private estates will find it easier to receive help with their local maintenance issues and drive community programmes to bond with one another.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched One Connect on Sunday. Initiated by 12 Neighbourhood Committees, One Connect aims to better serve the needs of residents.

More than 43,000 residents living in Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) and Sengkang West Single Member Constituency (SMC) are among the first to benefit.

Under One Connect @ Ang Mo Kio-Sengkang West, residents will be able to dial a toll-free hotline - 1800 2255 123 - for all their local maintenance issues if they are unclear of the relevant government agencies to contact.

One Connect also aims to look into the social well-being of residents, by connecting those with similar interests to form interest groups.

It also aims to make it easier for residents to form initiatives related to the safety and security of their neighbourhood.

More Neighbourhood Committees are slated to roll out similar initiatives like One Connect.

Those in Moulmein-Kallang GRC and Whampoa SMC will be launching their Hotline for Private Estates on 15 July.
