The incident happened at 10.10am yesterday in front of Blk 401 along Tampines Ave 7.
The two boys were conveyed by ambulance to Kandang Kerbau Hospital. One of them is suspected to have a fractured right arm and the other sustained multiple abrasions on his body.
Investigations revealed that the driver had stopped his car and brought the boys to the side of the road after the collision. He then drove off from the scene before ambulance or police arrived, and did not provide his particulars to the victims.
Two members of the public came forward to provide information on the case to the police. Three hours later, the driver was arrested at his residence in Tampines.
Further investigations revealed that the driver was in fact disqualified from driving. The man has been placed under arrest for five driving offences.
Motorists who are involved in accidents are reminded that they should never leave the accident scene, they must stop and render necessary assistance, such as calling an ambulance, said the Traffic Police.
Failure to do so is an offence and if convicted, the offender is liable to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.
