Malaysian shuttler starts fund for player down with leukemia

Datuk Lee Chong Wei has initiated a fund to pay for the treatment of state badminton player Gan Cheng Wei who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

The fund received a donation of RM10,000 (S$4,094) from Teori Warisan Sdn Bhd, the developers of Seasons Luxury Apartments on Saturday.

Gan's elder sister, Mei Ying, 34, who received the donation said that the family was thankful to Lee for initiating the drive.

"My brother was diagnosed in March and was told that he will not be able to play badminton," she said adding that her brother was undergoing chemotheraphy and trying his best to fight the disease.
