Gedung Kuning to house Malay fine dining restaurant called 'Mamanda'

The historic Gedung Kuning building or Yellow Mansion, the former Chief Minister's House located in Kampong Glam, will house a fine-dining Malay cuisine restaurant.

Developer The Expansion Group invested S$1.5 million to revamp the double storey building.

To open in July, the restaurant will be called Mamanda - a term used by the Sultan to address his state dignitaries and ministers.

Besides the spread of authentic Malay food such as rendang, diners will also be entertained with traditional cultural performances such as the Malay martial arts silat and folk dance.

It's hoped that diners will come to be familiar with authentic Malay food, which is often confused with Indonesian cuisine.

For those with a sweet tooth, Mamanda will introduce Italian Gelato in local flavours like jackfruit and durian.

And since it's a fine-dining concept, diners are expected to pay about S$25 per head.
