All three telcos here have slashed prices for their basic 100Mbps fibre-broadband plans to less than $50 per month.
These rates, available exclusively at the four-day IT Show which opened on Thursday, are 20 per cent to 30 per cent lower than usual, and the lowest SingTel and StarHub have ever offered for their 100Mbps lines.
Up until now, 100Mbps plans on 24-month contracts have typically been priced above $50, with the final cost dependent on the premiums packed with each plan.
100Mbps fibre-broadband offers:
SingTel
Price: $49.90 per month (24-month contract)
Comes with integrated wireless modem, unlimited digital local calls, and free 10GB online storage
M1
Price: $45 per month (24-month contract)
Comes with mobile broadband
StarHub
Price: $49.65 per month (24-month contract)
Comes with wireless home gateway, free installation and home phone line
MyRepublic
Price: $9.90 per month for six months, $59 per month thereafter for the remaining time under a 24-month contract
A 24-month 100Mbps plan by M1, for example, costs $79 a month and comes with a Toshiba Satellite U840 laptop.
