The police are conducting an internal inquiry into the case involving three foreigners - two of whom jumped bail and fled the country - who were charged with allegedly assaulting a Singaporean outside Suntec City Convention Centre in April 2010.
Together with Nathan Robert Miller; Robert Dahlberg and Robert James Springall were said to be drunk when they abused two taxi drivers, two taxi passengers and also hijacked and then crashed a taxi.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said that the inquiry - expected to be completed next month - and will seek to establish the "full facts of how the Suntec case was handled".
Noting that foreigners and Singaporeans are treated equally before the law, Mr Teo said: "If there were any lapses or negligence, the police will take appropriate disciplinary action against the officers involved."
Mr Teo also said that warrants of arrest have been issued against the three subjects, who left Singapore last December.
