Background
Affiliated with the Singapore Athletic Association, the Singapore Tug of War Association (STWA) is also an organization that is affiliated with the Asian Tug of War Federation (ATWF) as well as the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF).
Objective
STWA is conducting an individual selection (men and women) for the sport of Tug of War to find suitable individuals to form up Singapore National Teams for men and women.
The duration of the selection is 2 months. The participants will have to go through a series of exercises and physical activities to gauge their level of fitness. During this period, the participants will be trained the essential skills and fundamental techniques in the art of Tug of War.
Individuals will be selected for the National Teams basic on their level of fitness, skills and techniques of Indoor Tug of War and most importantly, our weight requirement, which is 65kg-85kg for men and 55kg-75kg for women.
Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday (10th January to 1st March 2012)
Time: 1730hrs to 2000hrs
Venue: Singapore Sport School
The Selection
The selection process will cover the period of 2 months. In the 1st week, the participants will be going through a series of physical tests and exercises to gauge their level of fitness, strength, stamina and endurances.
During the 2nd week to 7th week, participants will have to undergo stringent exercises regimen and will be taught the fundamental techniques of Indoor Tug of War.
On the 8th and also the last week of the selection, the participants will have to go through a series of physical test, as well as judging from each individual stance and technique of Indoor Tug of War including their level of rope endurance and stamina.
