Housing and Development Board (HDB) residents can expect a pilot scheme for mechanised parking by the end of the year.
Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for National Development Dr Lee Bee Wah said the study on mechanised carparks is currently in its preliminary stages.
She said the biggest concern of residents she has spoken to over mechanised parking are on reliabilty of such systems, and the cost.
In December, National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan had said in a blog post that mechanised parking systems may be a possible solution to the current shortage of parking lots in older HDB estates.
