S-League: Duric delivers for Stags

SINGAPORE - The evergreen Aleksandar Duric continued his rich vein of form, scoring a goal and setting up another as Tampines Rovers came from behind to beat defending champions Etoile FC 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash in the 2011 Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League at Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday night.

The win helped the Stags leapfrog Home United and move two points clear of second-placed SAFFC.

Kevin Lefranc scored in the 18th minute to give French outfit Etoile the lead, but Duric surged to the top of the goal scorers' chart with a 72nd minute equaliser - his seventh of the season.

In the 79th minute, Duric displayed great tenacity to win the ball and release Akihiro Nakamura for the winner.

Said Stags coach Steven Tan: "The players wanted to win, and at half-time I told them to keep going, give 120 per cent, and the goals will surely come.

"We want to stay at the top until the end of season, but we're taking it one game at a time."
