Everton have been in a fine run of form of late. They've put five past Blackpool (then again, Charlie Sheen could do that), they've won at Chelsea in the previous round of this competition and they dispensed with Sunderland easily enough on Saturday. Everton, of course, will be bolstered by the availability of Louis Saha. He can do his hamstring getting out of bed, crash his Ferrari and then play a game of football the next day.
7 min: Reading are making it very difficult for Everton. Whenever the hosts have the ball, they're faced by two solid banks of four and Reading are snapping into challenges with a confident intensity whenever a pass isn't accurate enough.
GOAL! Everton 0-1 Reading (Mills, 26 min): Ian Harte whipped the corner in and Mills caused problems, forcing Distin to head down into the six-yard box. Osman could only poke the ball back to Mills and he chested it down before walloping a low volley through the bodies and past Howard.
The scoreline stayed that way.
