AMK man killed children, then took his own life

These findings were revealed at the coroner's court hearing on Wednesday.

The tragedy had taken place on November 7, 2009, at Block 533 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

Having felt depressed over suspicions that his wife had relations with two other men and her request for a divorce, he proceeded to smother his two young children to death, before setting fire to his flat and ending his own life by rolling down from a 12th-floor parapet at his block.

Ng Chee Kiang, 39, had sent a letter to his friend the day before the tragedy happened. The letter was addressed to his family. He expressed that he was upset over his wife's request for a divorce and over her lack of contribution to the family. He also said that he was unwilling to let his children, Xavier, five, and Cheryl, three, become a part of another family, and that he would take them with him.

At the end of the letter, he provided three mobile phone numbers of three men, and asked his friend to get the police to conduct an investigation on them, claiming that they have ruined his family.
