Video: Police Officer Shot and Killed

Poughkeepsie, N.Y - A police officer responding to a call of a shooting in a parking lot near the train station was shot and later died. Three other police officers were also hurt.

In what is believed to have been a domestic dispute, the suspect had apparently shot his wife in the mouth moments earlier leading to her death.

The suspect had been holding a 3-year-old child when he was first confronted by police. A responding police officer, possibly the one shot, had then grabbed the child and handed it to a witness.

A gun battle then ensued in which the suspect had managed to hit a police officer, an 18-year veteran, twice in the head, before turning the gun on himself.

The 44-year-old officer, who Police has still not identified, was later taken into surgery but did not survive.
