The Malaysian who is believed to be in his late 40s, was a no show for his interview with the ministry's officials on Wednesday.

He was also absent from work in the club on Wednesday and Thursday, forcing the club to lodge a missing persons report with the police, reported The Straits Times.

There were rumours about his qualifications and someone might have let slip the information to the ministry. A key administration committee member had also received an anonymous phone message about Mr Khoo possibly having a fake degree.

In Mr Khoo's absence Ms Lily Tan, the club's senior sports manager has been appointed as the acting general manager.
