City Harvest Church will begin its services at Suntec Singapore on March 19, a year after its $310million move that put the church in the spotlight.
However, church leaders announced that the initial plans have been scaled back according to sources that have informed The Straits Times.
Unlike the initial promise of exclusive use of Suntec's conventional halls, by Mr Kong Hee, the church's founder, service will only be held there on weekends.
Plans to build a 12,000-seat auditorium have been shelved and instead two halls will hold 7,500 worshippers while a third hall will be used to as children's church.Certain church leaders including Mr Kong are still under police investigations for misuse of church funds.
The Commercial Affairs Department acted on complaints that alleged misuse of church funds picking up computers and financial records.
Though complaints are not related to the church's relocation to Suntec and City Harvest has tried to improve its inter processes, it has not stopped members from leaving the church.
In 2009 December, the church's annual report recorded 28,000 attendees on a weekly average. However, internal records obtained by Straits Times puts the weekly average at 15,000 between June to September last year.
