The electricity tariffs for the first quarter of 2015 will decrease by an average of 8 per cent, or 1.99 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared to the previous quarter.
SP Services said that this was possible due to the lower cost of fuel for electricity generation, which fell 16.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter.
Electricity tariff for households will decrease from 25.28 to 23.29 cents per kWh for Jan 1 to Mar 31, 2015, SP Services said.
The average monthly bill for families living in 4-room flats is expected to decrease by S$7.93.
SP Services reviews the electricity tariffs quarterly based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). The new tariffs have been approved by the EMA.
