The Housing and Development Board (HDB) on Thursday (Dec 18) announced it would deploy the Electronic Parking System (EPS) at 300 more carparks by the first half of 2015.
This means that about half of the existing 1,800 HDB carparks will have EPS installed by that time, given that the system is already operational at 610 car parks, HDB stated in its press release.
HDB added that an enhanced version of EPS will soon be implemented.
To allow an optimal use of the parking lots, the enhanced EPS will increase the number of available lots during the prescribed non-peak hours for visitors while season parking ticket holders are out in the day, it said. In the evening, the number of lots available for visitors will be reduced, HDB said.
Out of the existing 610 EPS carparks, HDB said 440 carparks in Toa Payoh Central, Bukit Batok Central and Bedok Central have already been enhanced with this feature. The remaining 170 carparks will be enhanced progressively, it said.
