SAF Volunteer Corps logo unveiled

The logo of the upcoming Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) was revealed on Thursday (Oct 2).

The logo “captures our fierce determination to protect our independence, even though we are a small nation... It also retains some historical elements of the previous volunteer force incorporated in 1854."

The SAFVC, which is set to go operational next year, will allow women, first-generation Permanent Residents and new citizens to contribute to Singapore’s national defence, according to the Committee to Strengthen National Service (CSNS) website.

Volunteers recruited will also undergo a four-week course to gain basic military skills and values.

More details on the scheme will be announced in the middle of this month.
