National Stadium pitch 'far short of international playing standards'

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has inspected the pitch at the Singapore Sports Hub's National Stadium on Thursday (Oct 9) ahead of a FIFA international friendly between Japan and Brazil scheduled on Oct 14.

In a statement to the media, FAS said it found the pitch to be "playable". However, FAS also said the condition of the field is "far short of expected international playing standards, which could affect the standard of play".

The match will proceed "if the match commissioner and teams agree".
