Three men who committed sexual offences against minors, including a serial molester, were sentenced in the State Courts yesterday.
He kissed the younger girl on the cheek and groped the other.
The odd-job worker, who had a third charge of molesting a 13-year-old boy taken into consideration, has had three previous convictions for sexual offences since 2011, prompting Deputy Public Prosecutor Paul Wong to argue that imprisonment had “no rehabilitative or deterrent effect” on him.
His previous offences were committed against victims aged between nine and 45.

Separately, Teo Koon Tian, 57, was sentenced to 20 months in jail for touching a 10-year-old boy inappropriately.
Teo committed the offence on July 18 on a boy he spotted at a void deck, where he was drinking beer. Teo approached the boy, who was playing with his mobile phone, and told him he was “very cute and handsome”. He started rubbing the boy’s thigh despite his protests.
Noting that the offence was committed in broad daylight, Deputy Public Prosecutor Joshua Lim argued that Teo “has to be told that he has to pay for his crimes against innocent, vulnerable, defenceless young boys”.

In the case of Abdul Rahim Abubakar, 30, he received 10 months’ imprisonment for asking a minor to perform fellatio on him, which took place in February 2012. He had obtained the contact number of a 14-year-old girl from an acquaintance and offered to pay S$60 in return for sexual services.
When the girl turned up, he gave her S$40 and the minor performed consensual fellatio on him. But before she left, Rahim asked for S$20 back, assuring that he would give her the money on another day.
Pressing for a 12-month jail term, Deputy Public Prosecutor Allison Phua noted the significant age gap between Rahim and the victim.
