It would appear that Frank Lampard’s emotional departure from Chelsea and the Premier League will be short lived as the Englishman is poised to make a return but to a different blue side, the champions, Manchester City.

Lampard joined David Villas as New York City FC’s main attractions but since the MLS season does not start for NYCFC until March 2015, the pair will need to be sent out on loan to regain fitness.

Villa has already found a temporary club in Melbourne City FC while Lampard is now close to a return with Manchester City, who are co-owners of NYCFC.

Pellegrini is actively trying to persuade the Chelsea legend to join City for 6-months in their Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

The Mirror is now reporting that Lamps will join but only if he’s allowed to miss games against Chelsea.
