A new work group for the proposed High Speed Rail link between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur has been formed by the Malaysia-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia.

The Ministry of Transport announced this in a statement on Saturday.

The new work group will discuss and jointly recommend requirements for the proposed High Speed Rail link, said the ministry.

The project promises to give both countries greater stakes in each other's prosperity and success, said the ministry.

The committee is expected to agree on an option for the rapid transit system by the end of next year.
