Two men arrested for stealing from temple donation box

Police have arrested two men, aged 31 and 37, after they were caught red-handed stealing from a donation box at the Cheng Hong Siang Tng Temple along Arumugam Road.

Acting on information received, officers from the Bedok Police Division on Thursday morning observed two suspects who were seen entering the place on the pretext of praying.

The duo then loitered around a donation box and one started fishing out money from the donation box while the other acted as a lookout.

The officers moved in swiftly and arrested the two suspects for stealing money from the donation box.

A check on the bags carried by both men found two customised files which contained 24 metallic plates pasted with double-sided adhesive tapes, two torch lights, a measuring tape and a piece of note with a list of addresses of religious buildings written on it.

Cash of various denominations, amounting to S$103, was also found in the bags.
