Auxiliary police officer's death ruled a suicide

While still in her teens, she had attempted to kill herself after a female friend said her parents did not want them to be friends.

But when she was older and applied to be an auxiliary police officer in Singapore, she passed the battery of psychological tests.

Yet, tragically, on Jan 29, Malaysian Lim Kooi Khim, 20, died of a single gunshot wound to her head. She shot herself with her service pistol, after a relationship break-up.

The Penang native was found in a basement toilet of the Supreme Court — the very building she had been tasked to protect.

During a Coroner’s Inquiry into her death on Friday, it was revealed that Miss Lim had previously threatened to jump off a building in Penang after a failed relationship when she was younger.

The State Coroner Imran Hamid said he accepted the police investigations and ruled Miss Lim’s death a suicide.
