Man slaps baby for no apparent reason

Madam Jariah Muhammad, 65, saw a man run up to a woman who was cradling her baby in her arms. Then, he slapped the infant, who looked about three months old.

The incident happened yesterday morning at a playground near Serangoon Market.

The housewife said she saw the man dash across the road and get into a bus. But passers-by stood around the vehicle to stop it from leaving until the police arrived.

Another witness, Madam Annie Ng, 63, said the man attacked the child out of the blue.
