He befriended a 10-year-old primary school pupil, even giving her money on several occasions.

But Jashim Uddin Hanif Ali, 31, a Bangladeshi national, had an ulterior motive.

Sometime in January last year, he showed his true colours when he took her to a 10th-floor staircase landing of a HDB block in the West, where he sexually abused her.

He repeated the act a few days later — this time giving her $2 after he was done.

Yesterday in court, Jashim pleaded guilty to two counts of committing an obscene act with a child under 14. He will be sentenced on Oct 31.
