The cabby had collapsed onto the floor, his face covered in blood, after exiting his taxi.

But none of the onlookers offered to help. This was the scene on Saturday, after the 55-year-old’s taxi crashed into a shopfront at Sims Drive.

Eventually, two brothers, Syafiq and Syahiran Rohajat, went to the cabby’s rescue. The driver, who suffered a head injury and multiple abrasions, was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

Mr Syafiq, 27, a safety coordinator, said he and his brother were in their flat when they heard the crash. “We saw many people downstairs pointing at the shop and we immediately went down to see what was going on,” he said.

They tried to carry the driver out of the shop. But he was too heavy.

“We shouted for someone to help us carry him. But no one did,” said Mr Syahiran.
