Harimau Muda won the Plate competition of the Starhub League Cup on Saturday evening after claiming a 2-0 win over Courts Young Lions at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The Malaysian outfit took the lead in the 21st minue after Firman Hanif conceded a freekick 25 yards out, allowing Syazwan Tajudin to step up and unleash a ferocious drive that sailed past a hapless Rudy Khairullah.

And 20 minutes from time, the win was secured after Harimau Muda scored with another set-piece although the goal arrived in more fortuitous circumstances on this occasion; Asri Marduzki whipping in an effort that sailed past a sea of players inside the box before ending up in the bottom corner.

The result was deserving given Razip Ismail's charges had been the better side throughout the 90 minutes, although the Young Lions deserve credit for the way they battled despite missing a host of first-team players through international duty.
