Deep fryer at FairPrice store catches fire, three hurt

Three people were hurt after a fire broke out at the NTUC FairPrice Xtra store in Jem shopping centre on Wednesday.

According to a statement by NTUC Fairprice, a deep fryer at the Ready-to-Eat counter had caught fire at around 10.30am.

“The fire brigade and ambulance arrived in 10 minutes and the small fire was quickly extinguished,” said the statement.

Two of the employees of the Ready-to-Eat vendor suffered burns on their forearms and have been sent to the hospital, while the third individual, who suffered "redness" on his arm, did not wish to be taken to the hospital.

Business resumed at 11.20am.
