A Japanese celebrity chef was allegedly killed over a dispute with diners who found his meal unsatisfactory.

Miki Nozawa, a Japanese chef working in Germany, died on Monday as a result of injuries from a fight with two men, according to German news reports.

The 57-year-old chef was working at his eponymous restaurant in the resort island of Sylt, and the two German men had ordered a dish of fried noodles with beef and vegetables.

Claiming that they did not like the meal, the men refused to pay and left.

Later that night, Nozawa bumped into the men at a bar and asked them to pay for the meal. The heated argument turned physical and the chef was taken to the hospital with internal bleeding. He succumbed to his injuries; unconfirmed reports said that the cause of death was a brain haemorrhage.

Investigations are still ongoing.

Nozawa has cooked for former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev and celebrities such as Denzel Washington. He previously worked at a restaurant in Italian tycoon Flavio Briatore's high-end Billionaire Club in Sardinia.
