Some passengers travelling on a SMRT train from Woodlands to the city on Saturday evening may have noticed some wooden pieces on the tracks.
Channel NewsAsia viewer Edward Tan, who had spotted pieces of plywood on both sides of the track, said his journey was delayed by about 20 minutes.
An SMRT spokesman told Channel NewsAsia that the plywood, which is the hoarding to mark out the walkway for workers during sleeper replacement works, had fallen from the track walkway onto the track due to heavy rain and wind on Saturday evening.
The spokesman added that the trains were still safe for operations but were delayed as the SMRT staff had to remove the plywood.
