Mr Prashun Pal, 35, an associate director for IT services and Mr Pawan Kumar, 30, an associate director for banking and financial services said they had been drinking at Club Nana, a Thai disco, on Friday night, into the wee hours of Saturday morning.
Club Nana is located at 5, Magazine Road, and is just a short walk some from Havelock Road.
"We were with a female friend when we left the club at about 6am," said Mr Prashun.
"She took the cab in front of the club and left, while both of us walked out further to Havelock Road."
"We walked out and saw the four men just standing there, and the cab which was changing shift to Woodlands," he said.
"They couldn't take the cab because they were going somewhere else, but we were going to Yishun. So we asked them if we could take the cab instead."
That was when the group of four allegedly started verbally abusing Mr Prashun and Mr Pawan.
"They started hurling vulgarities at us. I told Pawan to just forget it and walk away," said Mr Prashun.
The taxi then drove off without any passengers.
But as the duo walked away, the four men allegedly started to attack them.
Mr Pawan described how he was shoved to the ground by one man, and Mr Prashun was shoved and beaten by three others.
"One guy pushed me to the ground and punched me on the cheek," said Mr Pawan. "I heard a crack and felt a pain in my arm as I hit the ground."
Mr Pawan said he got up quickly after, and pushed the three men who were attacking Mr Prashun, grabbed him and make a run for it.
Mr Pawan then used his mobile phone to call the police.
Both Mr Pawan, who has been a permanent resident here for almost eight years, and Mr Prashun, said it was their first time getting into such a fight.
"I have never got into a fight my whole life," said Mr Prashun.
"Especially in Singapore, it is totally unexpected."
He added: "I tell everyone that Singapore is the safest place in the world, and I still can't believe what happened."
