Olympics: S'pore paddlers through to team quarter-finals

Singapore's women table tennis team have defeated Poland 3-1 to proceed to the quarter-finals of the London Olympics.

There was an upset after singles' bronze medallist Feng Tianwei suffered a shock 2-3 defeat to Li Qian in the opening tie.

However, Wang Yuegu managed to level the score with a 3-0 win over Natalia Partyka.

The doubles pairing of Wang and Li Jiawei saw them beat Partyka and Katarzyna Gryzbowska 3-0.

Feng redeemed herself in Game 4, with a 3-0 success over Gryzbowska.

Singapore will face either Britain or North Korea in the next round.
