National water agency PUB has started work on a digital map of flood-prone areas in the Marina catchment area, The Straits Times reported on Wednesday.

The map, which will be ready by year-end, will help PUB better predict where water will flow to during storms if there are floods.

The agency will work together with other agencies to gather data for building the map.

The $450,000 digital map will be ready in six months. In the future it will also be used in a more advanced flood prediction model, the report added.
