SCDF takes over marine fighting, rescue functions from MPA

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has taken over the marine fighting and rescue functions from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

In a joint statement, SCDF said it has set up the Civil Defence Marine Command (CDMC) to do so.

SCDF said it will build up its capabilities and capacity to enhance response to marine fire and rescue incidents gradually.

CDMC is operating from the West Coast Marine Fire Station located at West Coast Pier.

In addition, SCDF said CDMC will also be operating from an interim base at Pulau Brani until the permanent base and headquarters are built there.
