Man jailed 6 months for exposing himself to daughter

A man was jailed for six months for insulting the modesty of his daughter by exposing himself to her five times at their Pasir Ris flat between June 2010 and May 2011.

The matter was reported to the police by a child protection officer with the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in August 2011.

In June 2010, the 11-year-old girl was going to leave the house to go to her cousin's place.

Her father called out to her from his bedroom and said he wanted to give her some money.

The girl found him naked in the room. She quickly took the money and left.

In April 2011, he asked her to unzip his trousers. When she refused, he did it himself and exposed his genitals to her.

He also exposed himself to her while she was watching television.

The man could have been fined up to $10,000, jailed for a year, or both on each of the three charges he pleaded guilty to.
