Universal Studios hit by ticket scam again

Beware of second-hand Universal Studios tickets sold. They could be part of a scam.

The Straits Times reported that Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), which runs the theme park, received alerts last month that tickets had been bought using a stolen credit card.

The tickets were then made invalid for entry.

Shin Min Daily reported that a person claiming to be a Vietnamese distributor sold the tickets to a tour agency, which were then found to be invalid for use.

According to the Chinese daily, the tour agency owner said he had bought 100 tickets at $55 each, and had sold them off at $60.

The normal price of tickets is $68.

Two weeks ago, police officers came to question him about the distributor.

The owner told the paper that he felt uneasy after the man insisted on being paid in cash, and mentioned another travel agent who had bought 200 tickets and encountered the same situation.

The case is currently under investigation.

RWS advised travel agencies to purchase tickets directly from them, as they are guaranteed to be valid and bona fide.
