NEA steps up anti-dengue measures in Ang Mo Kio

The authorities have swung into action in an Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood where 29 confirmed cases of dengue fever have been reported in the past fortnight.

Residents at a cluster of flats bounded by Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, Yio Chu Kang Road and Yio Chu Kang Gardens say National Environment Agency (NEA) inspection teams have visited their homes at least three times in the past two weeks.

The inspectors have employed a range of measures, from fumigating the common corridors and setting glue traps to distributing wet wipes that contain ingredients to repel mosquitoes.

Mr Lee Foo Heng, 50, who lives in Block 608, said four NEA staff came last Friday to check his home and plants for still water. They also gave him a sample packet of wet wipes.
